by Xandria inthe news just came on with a "special report" and my husband looked at me and said, "uh oh what now??
" the newscaster came on.. "president bush in a operation that outdone the cia in secrecy..blah blah blah".
bottom line... the president flew into iraq to spend thanksgiving with the troops.

Regardless of whether you like his politics or not, our sons and daughters are over there and if something as simple as the President showing up unanounced for Thanksgiving dinner will raise morale, I'm all for it.

I did not vote in the last election. I wlll be voting for him in the next election. When men like Ted Kennedy hate someone that vehemently, he must be doing something right.

What to do about a bully?
by Sirona inthere is a bully in my life currently who wants to bully me and others who i know.
knowing that people say you should stand up to a bully, i did just that, and told him"where to go".
he backed off me, but has moved on to others i know who perhaps don't want to have the hassle of a confrontation with him, or don't feel able to confront him.

It has been my experience that bullies respond to only one thing.
While I don't condone violence, Ok well maybe I do, if you try to be civil and nice and sweet, you'll only give him validation.
Bust his chops, let him know in no uncertain terms that his behavior has no place among you nad your friends or co-workers.
If that doesn't work, I have lots of swords!

Just for the record. dear old Dad is on cloud 9 too!
Its strange, we don't even have to heve him in our face to feel better. When he's gone we feel his loneliness for us. Just knowing that he is at easy ahd happy is enough to make us happy.
Looks like I'll be preparing a ham and a turkey today. Per the boy's request I might add.
Dinner is at 4:00 if anyone is in the neighborhood. Admission is a hug. -

What book(s) are you reading?
by gaiagirl ini just finished a 'historical novel' titled "confessions of a pagan nun", by kate horsley.
this is a story about a woman who grew up in ireland during the late 5th and early 6th century, at the time when christianity was beginning to displace the older pagan customs.
the story tells how gwynneve is raised according to the beliefs of her ancestors, and the conflicts she experiences as she gradually comes into contact with those claiming to represent the christian faith.

butter or mayo?
by SpiceItUp inok matty and i are having a disagreement (we'll tell you who likes what later after we get some input)... .
when you eat a standard sandwich (made with flat white/wheat square bread with lunchmeat) which is a given: .
1. that butter would be spread on the bread unlesss otherwise requested.
-
Thunder Rider
I'm thinking it depends on the bread. Breads of substance defenitely get butteres. Softer breads tear to easily would thus be better off mayoed.
